STORM IMANI SMITH


Storm Imani Smith received her Bachelor’s degree in Dance with a minor in English from CSU Sacramento. She began training in jazz, ballet, and contemporary dance at Step 1 Dance and Fitness in Sacramento, California under the direction of instructors such as Angela Franklin, Naimah Kisoki, Samuel Fulk, Nikki Burgis, and Nhan Ho. She competed locally as a dancer for Step 1’s contemporary dance company under the direction of Nikki Burgis. As a college student, she continued her training under the instruction of Bernard Brown, Lorelei Bayne, Megan Brunsvold Mercedes, Philip Flickinger, Samuel Fulk, Nichol Lazenby, and Linda Bair Falk. Throughout university, Storm performed for Sacramento State’s University Dance Company’s showcase, as well as for Sacramento Black Art of Dance. She was also selected to represent CSU Sacramento at the American College Dance Association’s 2023 regional conference, performing the choreography of Nichol Lazenby. Since graduation, Storm has performed as a guest artist with the Linda Bair Dance Company. Outside of dance, Storm works as an Instructional Assistant at a Los Rios Writing Center. There, she tutors students in writing across all subjects and helps foster community in the Writing Center, guiding students towards success, in and outside of the classroom.
